Presque Isle Downs & Casino Fined Over $80K for Violations
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) recently announced that Presque Isle Downs & Casino has been fined a total of $81,575 for various violations of gaming regulations.
Violations and Penalties
During a meeting on February 26, the PGCB determined that Presque Isle Downs & Casino, operated by PID LLC, had failed to comply with certain rules, resulting in the hefty fine. The casino was penalized $50,000 for not maintaining a sufficient number of slot machines operational on the gaming floor. Additionally, they were fined $31,575 for a delay in submitting a Principal License application as required by law.
The PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel, responsible for monitoring gaming activities in Pennsylvania, identified these infractions, leading to the imposition of penalties on the casino.
Involuntary Exclusion List
Furthermore, the PGCB updated its Involuntary Exclusion List, adding nine individuals and rejecting appeals from others seeking removal from the list. Inclusion on this list prohibits individuals from entering any casino within the state, using regulated online gambling platforms, or accessing video gaming terminals (VGTs) within Pennsylvania.
Child Abandonment Cases
Recent incidents involving child abandonment at Pennsylvania casinos have also prompted action from the PGCB. Two men were banned from casinos after leaving minors unattended while gambling. One individual left a five-year-old child alone in a car at Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s valet parking for 12 minutes, while another abandoned a 10-year-old child in a vehicle at Wind Creek Casino’s parking garage in Bethlehem for 45 minutes.
The board also denied an appeal from a woman who had left her three children unattended in a car at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, resulting in her inclusion on the exclusion list.
Awareness Campaign
Highlighting the dangers of leaving children unattended in casino facilities, the PGCB initiated an awareness campaign titled “Don’t Gamble with Kids.” The campaign aims to educate visitors about the risks and potential legal consequences associated with such actions.
Future Plans
The PGCB is scheduled to convene its next meeting on March 26, 2025, at the board’s Public Hearing Room in Harrisburg. The board remains committed to upholding gaming regulations and ensuring the safety and well-being of all visitors to Pennsylvania casinos.
